'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith continues contest with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he reminisces about the dramatic closing stages of Swansea's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles after the on-field celebration.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a powerful strike from 25 yards, and Cameron Burgess promptly hammered in the loose ball before charging toward the home end to revel in the moment, with supporters swarming the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result capped an incredible comeback given Swansea had trailed 2-0 deep into the second half. During the celebrations, there was some minor mishaps. He shared, "There was a supporter shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're people, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

That win booked a fourth-round match at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith came close against at the same stage of the FA Cup with his former club in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in spectacular fashion, with a teammate's first-time shot from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the opposition keeper. Many argued that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've awarded it to him for taking the effort on from that distance," stated Galbraith, who began the game centrally before switching to right defensive wing after Orient changed shape. That meant competing with the England international, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the player was among the Manchester squad who paid tribute to the way his former team approached the match.

Opponent's Class

"Athletically they are outstanding but even the basics and simple things, they can just perform consistently," he explains. "It appears that they never miss a pass and they know how to dictate and take the sting out of a game. You can believe you're doing well and then abruptly they will just fizz a pass through a line without you even spotting it. You have to be focused throughout of the game. It demands a strong mentality and concentration just to remain competitive."

Swansea Move

The club were keen on Galbraith in January and secured his signature to bring him in in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at his former club and has quickly replicated that in south Wales. At Orient he linked up again with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in senior football on loan at Doncaster from United. Then came a temporary move at League Two the Manchester club, before he moved on from Old Trafford.

Development Path

"I was likely a bit naive going into professional soccer. I think many athletes would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it feels like the ball is moved without much intensity. There's not many tackles or duels. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adjust fast."

International Recognition

He has shown that development for both domestically and internationally, excelling for his national side, who are fighting to qualify for the international competition next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has started the last several matches, including two matches fixtures against the German national team. His former international manager, Galbraith's ex- international manager, offered the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his eye for a killer pass.

Early Days

This marks an incredible journey for the kid from the local area in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who grew up watching his dad, his father, also a central player, play for a local club.

Old Trafford Memory

The player's single match for United came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they played on an synthetic surface and the stadium roof was closed owing to the weather of bitter cold. "That proved to be a long trip and it was chilly," he comments, chuckling. "The week before, the academy prospects trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was incredible."

Moving On

How hard was it to leave United, the club he transferred from aged his mid-teens? "This turned out fairly simple, because I reached the point where I realized I wasn't going to make it at the senior squad. I'm extremely thankful for the time I spent there but it reached a stage where I felt I required a fresh start, join a smaller club and play first-team games. Now I'm slowly climbing the ladder."

New Environment

This occurs during the middle of the day at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has an appointment at 5pm: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Before his recent move to Sketty, the 24-year-old was a constant rider in Swansea's so-called player transport, a minibus driven by club employees, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from training and matches.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, the Brazilian, Malick Yalcouyé – a former passenger used to be in it but has got his license. It's enjoyable to interact with the lads but I'm hoping to be the subsequent individual out of the minibus and on the road. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's always up to all sorts."

Public Engagement

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside supporters on London's Central line after beginning his trip at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
