Paris Saint-Germain Edges Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Secure French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now won the prestigious trophy on 14 separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup victory.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown between the Ligue 1 winners and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring early on.

However, Marseille fired two times in the closing moments to seize a shock advantage. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital equaliser in the final seconds to force the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, stopping crucial attempts from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for PSG to complete a 4-1 penalty win.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the last 13 years.
