Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard surfaces
A revitalized Medvedev claimed his first trophy for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has endured a challenging season, managing just one win at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.
His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.
Now training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.
This represents the player's initial title following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after March of that year.
Victory also signifies he has secured twenty-one victories at 21 various tournaments.
"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters together, so to secure a title is particularly special," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his previous six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.
His defensive strategy and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had caused observers to doubt if his ability to play at the top level was over.
However the athlete has made changes in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform aggressively, reinforced by an improved serve.
Medvedev came back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Moutet, securing 4 of the final five points to go ahead.
The competitors swapped breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to create a decider.
The opponent saved 4 early chances in a tight deciding set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.
Appropriately, he clinched the win with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
